A driver can pass the M50 toll point without stopping at a booth. In a rental car, the next question is who is responsible for paying: the driver directly or the rental company under the agreement.

This guide compares eFlow’s system explanation with its rental guidance and builds a payment record that helps avoid missed journeys, incorrect registrations and duplicate payments. It does not quote a universal rental administration fee.

Identify the actual toll point

eFlow’s M50 explanation places the barrier-free toll between junctions 6 and 7, operating in both directions. Cameras record vehicles passing the point. Using another stretch of the M50 without passing it is not the same as incurring that particular toll.

Where the driver is responsible for a manual payment, the operator gives a deadline of 8pm on the day after the journey. This is a next-day deadline, not a rolling 24-hour period after each crossing.

Ask the rental company the specific question

The official tourist and rental instructions say rental arrangements differ. Confirm whether the agreement covers M50 tolls, how charges will be billed and whether the customer must pay directly. Ask about other toll roads separately rather than assuming one answer covers every route.

A useful collection question is: “For this vehicle and agreement, will you pay M50 passages and bill me, or must I pay eFlow myself?” Keep the written answer or agreement clause. A tag visible in a windscreen should not replace confirmation that the relevant vehicle and account are active and covered.

Keep the car and journey matched

Record the vehicle registration, rental start and end, dates of toll-point passages and payment responsibility. If the rental company changes the car, update the record rather than reusing the first registration.

For illustration, a Friday passage with a driver-paid obligation is due by Saturday at 8pm. A second passage on Saturday has its own Sunday deadline. Do not combine both into a single deadline calculated from the time the car is returned.

Pay through the genuine route and retain the receipt

Where direct payment is required, eFlow lists its website, customer service and Payzone outlets. Check the registration carefully and retain the receipt or reference. Use the genuine operator address rather than following an unexpected payment message.

If the rental company later bills for an already paid passage, compare the registration, date and receipt before paying again or assuming misconduct. A duplicate-looking amount may concern another passage, an agreed administration charge or an error requiring reconciliation.

Keep toll, penalty and rental-company charges on separate lines. The M50 process is distinctive; other toll roads may use booths or different payment arrangements. Resolve uncertainty with the operator and rental company while the journey details are still available.
