West X West returns to Castlebar on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October with a programme combining technology, venture investment and culture. For founders in Mayo and elsewhere in the west, the practical decision is which parts of the festival fit their business and which ticket covers them. [1]
The organiser identifies the Royal Theatre in Castlebar as the main festival location. Its ticket page describes a two-day mix of panels and live music, comedy and spoken-word performances. Those are the organisers' programme descriptions, not a report that all advertised sessions have taken place. [1][2]
Day and evening access differ
The two-day delegate festival pass is listed as including both days of the daytime programme, the evening cultural programme and Future Foundry pitches. Delegate day passes cover the daytime programme and pitches on the selected day. Individual tickets are also offered for evening cultural events. A day pass should therefore not be assumed to include the same evening access as the full festival pass. [2]
The TF Royal's listing quotes €85 for a delegate day pass and €155 for a two-day delegate pass, plus fees. Check the final booking page for current availability, charges and terms before paying; an event listing is not a guarantee that a particular ticket remains on sale. [4]
Make the business purpose specific
A founder can make a better plan by choosing one problem to explore before arriving. That might be how to present an early product, how to describe a customer need or which sort of business experience would be useful in a prospective adviser. Prepare a short explanation of the company, the current stage and the question you want to discuss.
Meeting an investor or attending a panel does not establish an investment commitment. Useful follow-up is more concrete: an agreed introduction, a requested document or a clearly described next conversation. Keep those distinct from general encouragement when assessing the value of attending.
Plan the return journey as well
The organiser advertises private return transport for pass holders from Belfast, Galway, Cork and Limerick, with separate booking links. Its travel page distinguishes daily Galway transport from other routes involving an overnight stay and also describes Westport–Castlebar shuttles. Confirm the applicable day, departure point, return time and booking requirement directly; do not assume every coach follows the same pattern. [2][3]
If you are combining daytime sessions with an evening performance, make sure the return you choose actually allows for that. Check the location of each cultural event rather than relying solely on the main theatre address.
Castlebar's role is the distinctive element here: a founder-focused event in Mayo with cultural activity alongside it. Whether the trip is worthwhile depends on the programme, the connections relevant to your company and a manageable travel plan—not simply the size of the advertised speaker list.
