Irish shoppers checking smoked salmon should compare both the product name and its use-by date with current recall notices. SuperValu has an earlier notice for 40g and 150g own-brand packs dated 17 October, plus a separate 14 October notice covering four Signature Tastes lines with later dates. The notices identify the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. [1][2][3]

This is a product-identification check, rather than a warning that every smoked-salmon pack on sale is affected. A familiar brand name alone is not enough to match an item to a recall.

The 40g and 150g packs

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland’s alert dated Sunday, 11 October, covers SuperValu Smoked Salmon in 40g and 150g pack sizes with a use-by date of 17/10/26. It identifies approval number IE DN 0012 EU and advises consumers not to eat the implicated product. [1]

SuperValu’s matching notice says not to consume those packs and to return the product to the store of purchase for a full refund. It gives 0214217619 for further details. Check the printed date carefully: 17 October 2026 is the use-by date, not the date this article or the recall was published. [2]

Four Signature Tastes lines

The retailer’s separate notice dated 14 October lists the following product-and-date combinations. Its table uses abbreviated product names, expanded here for readability. [3]

Smoked Salmon Ribbons, 80g: use by 4 November 2026.

Dingle Gin Infused Smoked Salmon, 100g: use by 31 October 2026.

Applewood Smoked Salmon, 100g: use by 31 October 2026.

Dill and Black Pepper Smoked Salmon, 100g: use by 4 November 2026.

For those identified products and dates, SuperValu likewise says not to eat them and to return them to the store where purchased for a full refund. The same contact number is supplied for questions. [3]

Make the check useful across households

Read the name, weight and date on the actual pack, then open the relevant source notice below. The notices include product photographs that can help with identification. Do not rely on a cropped social-media picture that omits the date, or assume a newer use-by date makes a different listed pack unaffected.

If someone else bought the salmon or has taken it to another household, pass on the exact notice rather than only a general warning. Keep the relevant packaging information together when asking the store about a return. Do not taste the product to decide whether the recall applies.

The FSAI’s alert explains that Listeria infection can be especially serious for vulnerable people, including pregnant women, infants, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. This guide does not diagnose illness or assess an individual’s exposure. Anyone concerned about symptoms should seek healthcare advice. [1]

The dates and products above are taken from the original notices checked on 15 October 2026. They describe these SuperValu recalls, not a complete list of every food recall in Ireland.
