Open House Dublin begins on 10 October, with architecture tours, talks and other activities across the city and county until 18 October. The Irish Architecture Foundation says the opening weekend, 10–11 October, includes its programme for children and young people. [1]
For someone deciding whether to go, the useful question is which event fits their day and what they need to arrange. Free admission does not mean every building can be visited without a booking. The organiser lists both pre-booked activities and events people can join at specified times. [2]
Read the individual event listing
Choose a particular tour or activity in the official programme before making a travel plan. Check the date, starting time, meeting point and entry arrangements on that event's page. The festival lasts nine days, but that does not mean each participating location opens on every day. [1][4]
Families can start with the Junior programme. The foundation's announcement includes creative activities and guided walks, rather than treating the festival solely as a series of building visits. Check the chosen activity's age guidance and accompanying-adult requirements before reserving places. [1][4]
Check the booking conditions
The organiser says reservations for pre-booked events must be made online unless an alternative has been agreed. Its booking office lists festival-week opening hours of 09:30–16:30, including weekends. [2]
Some tours with limited capacity have a no-show charge arrangement. The organiser says cancelling at least 48 hours before the event avoids that charge. Read the terms shown during your own booking, including any payment-details requirement, and contact the organiser if that creates a difficulty. Free entry and cancellation conditions are separate checks. [2]
Ask specific access questions
The festival advertises sign-language, sensory and tactile activities. Those options do not establish that every venue has the same access arrangements. Consult the access page and the individual listing; if needed, ask about steps, seating, toilets, the length of a route or the support available on your selected tour. [1][3]
A useful planning note contains just four items: the event link, confirmed booking, meeting point and return journey. Share it with anyone attending with you. If plans change, cancel a reserved place according to its terms rather than simply abandoning it.
This is a practical guide to the announced programme, checked on 10 October 2026. It does not confirm remaining ticket availability, review an event or report attendance. Recheck the organiser's listing before leaving.
