Mayo’s Dark Sky Festival takes place from 30 October to 1 November 2026 across Newport, Mulranny and Ballycroy. Its published visitor guidance makes two details especially useful when planning: a weekend ticket does not cover every separate event, and the shuttle webpage still has gaps in its Saturday and Sunday times. [1][2]
The organiser’s FAQ says a two-day ticket covers Saturday and Sunday, with the gala dinner excluded. Friday’s opening event also requires a separate booking. Check the exact event and ticket description before assuming that a pass includes the whole three-day programme. [1]
Build an itinerary around locations
List each chosen event’s venue beside its start and finish time. Then check the journey to the next one. A programme with attractive sessions in different villages needs transfer time as well as time inside each venue.
The organiser advertises a free shuttle linking the three villages. Its webpage gives Friday departures, but on 10 October the Saturday and Sunday tables contained “x:xx” placeholders. Those placeholders are not usable departure times. Recheck the page or ask the organiser before relying on a weekend connection. [2]
Choose a plan that still works if a timetable or event arrangement changes. A small number of well-spaced events may be more practical than a schedule requiring every transfer to be immediate.
Confirm the details that affect your group
The FAQ advises checking accessibility for individual events. It also describes a carer-pass request process and notes that some limited-capacity activities may charge for children, despite free entry being offered to under-16s for many events. Ask about the specific booking rather than generalising from the festival headline. [1]
Save the organiser’s current instructions and the confirmation for each separately booked event. For outdoor plans, check the applicable weather and event updates close to the time. This preview does not forecast clear skies, guarantee a particular astronomical view or claim that The Press has attended the festival.
