Enterprise Ireland has named five finalists for its 2026 High Potential Start-Up Founder of the Year award. Its 1 October announcement says the winner will be selected at a ceremony in Dublin’s Salesforce Tower on Thursday, 15 October. As of this preview, the announcement identifies finalists rather than an overall winner. [1]
The shortlist includes Leah Fletcher of Dunbar Pharma, Robert Norton of Kaptea, Breda O’Regan of Lia EyeCare, Seán Kirwan of MedWrite AI and Mark Birrane of WONDR Jellies. Enterprise Ireland says 38 high-potential startups were eligible for this year’s award. [1]
Recognition and product evidence answer different questions
An award shortlist tells readers that its organiser selected particular founders within a defined process. It does not by itself verify a product’s performance, clinical suitability, nutritional claims or results for a new customer. Those matters require evidence appropriate to the claim.
For a prospective customer researching a finalist, start with the actual problem the product is intended to address. Then ask what documentation supports the outcome being offered and whether its conditions match the proposed use. Keep supplier statements attributed instead of treating an award as a substitute for that assessment.
Look at the learning platform as well as the prize
The agency links the award to its HPSU Founders Forum, delivered with Select Strategies, and describes peer support for founders working towards international growth. Its announcement says more than 500 founders have participated over the forum’s history. That cumulative figure is not this year’s intake or evidence that every participant achieved the same result. [1]
For a founder considering a support programme, useful questions include its eligibility, the time commitment and which peer discussions fit the current stage of the business. The announcement does not open a general public nomination process.
Watch the organiser’s subsequent report for the judging result. This preview makes no winner prediction, product endorsement or claim of an interview with any finalist.
