Longford County Council's Colehill National School consultation closes at 5pm on Tuesday 20 October 2026. It specifies different addresses for viewing the plans and posting a response, which must arrive by the deadline. [1]
The council proposes two speed ramps, markings, warning signs, pencil bollards where required and associated works, with the stated aim of reducing speeds and improving school-area safety. [1]
Viewing the plans and sending a response
Plans are available online and at the Planning Counter, Áras an Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford, during 5–20 October. Counter hours are Monday–Friday, 10am–1pm and 2pm–4pm. [1]
Email responses go to activetravel@longfordcoco.ie. Post goes to Longford County Council, 2 Church Street, Longford N39 W1X7, addressed to “Submissions, Active Travel Scheme, Colehill Nation School Ramp Project”, using the council's stated project wording. [1]
The notice excludes other formats and postal addresses. [1] Allow for delivery: the inspection address is not the submission address, and posting on the deadline does not ensure arrival in time.
Make an observation that can be located on the plan
Before writing, open the council's layout document and identify the approach or feature you want to discuss. Then separate three things: where it is, what concern or question you have, and what clarification or change you are requesting. This makes a response easier to understand than a general statement about traffic.
For example, a question about a warning sign should identify which approach you mean. If you cannot identify the relevant point on the drawing, ask the council to clarify it rather than guessing a position from an illustration or a social-media post.
What the September report establishes
The accompanying determination report, signed on 18 September 2026, explains the council's choice of the Section 38 procedure for the proposed works. It is a procedural assessment, not a notice that the ramps have been installed. [2]
Submissions feed into the Chief Executive's consultation report; the notice gives no construction completion date. [1] The immediate opportunity is to read the actual plans and send a specific observation through the stated channel before the cutoff.
The source documents were checked on 11 October 2026. The image is an illustration, not a drawing of the proposed scheme.
