Cavan County Council has announced a half-price offer for recycling bulky domestic items at Corranure Civic Amenity Site on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October, as part of Cavan Eco Féile. [1] For a household planning an autumn clear-out, the useful first step is to check the intended load before arranging transport.

The council's short event notice says the discount is 50% off the regular recycling price. It does not provide an item-by-item discounted tariff or a complete event acceptance list. [1] Treat it as an offer for eligible bulky domestic items, rather than a promise that everything in a garage or shed will qualify.

Start with an item list, then confirm the charge

Make a short inventory of what you want to bring. Note the item type, quantity and approximate size, and separate objects you still want to keep, repair or pass on from those you intend to discard. This avoids turning a discount into a reason to throw away usable possessions.

Before loading, ask the site whether each item is accepted during the event, whether it qualifies for the offer and how the final charge will be calculated. Ask separately about electrical equipment, batteries, liquids or building materials if any are in your proposed load; the published event notice does not establish that these are included.

If arranging paid transport, compare the total journey cost with the confirmed recycling charge. A saving at the gate can be outweighed by a vehicle hire or an extra trip. Keep the answer and the transport arrangement together so the person making the journey has the same information.

Use Corranure’s details, rather than assuming every Cavan centre has the offer

The council names Corranure for this event. Its civic-amenity directory gives the address as Cootehill Road, Cavan, H12 DK61, and the site telephone number as 049 4378568. It also links to the operator's regular price information. [2]

The directory lists ordinary opening hours of 8am–4.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am–12.30pm Saturday. [2] Those are normal published hours, not a separate confirmation of the discount event's timetable. Confirm the hours for your chosen date before setting off, particularly if you intend to travel later on Saturday.

Keep the recycling trip separate from festival plans

The wider Eco Féile programme runs from 23–25 October and includes concerts, workshops and other activities. [3] The bulky-waste offer is listed for two days, 23–24 October. Do not assume the festival's Sunday programme extends the recycling discount.

Choose a manageable load and suitable help rather than attempting to lift a heavy object alone. If the journey or lifting arrangement is uncertain, settle that first. Clearing space before winter should leave the home easier to use, not create an avoidable injury or an unplanned second journey.

Official information was checked on 11 October 2026. No item eligibility, discounted euro charge or remaining event capacity has been independently confirmed beyond the linked council notices.
