Stop/go traffic control is due to begin on Dublin Road in Castletroy at 8pm today, Friday 23 October, for wastewater-network works continuing over the bank holiday weekend.

Uisce Éireann's project notice, published on 19 October and checked again today, schedules that arrangement through Monday 26 October. It says work will run around the clock during this phase.

Different arrangements from Tuesday

From Tuesday 27 October, the utility plans night-time work with a one-way traffic system. It says the road will reopen during the day, with local and emergency access maintained and advance signs provided.

Drivers should distinguish tonight's stop/go arrangement from the later one-way phase. The notice gives no exact nightly start and finish hours for that second phase, so those should not be inferred from Friday's 8pm start.

Sewer upgrade continues beyond the weekend

The wider project involves 1.2km of sewer main along Dublin Road, Monaleen Heights, Elm Road and Groody Road. Uisce Éireann says the upgrade will add capacity for housing and development; contractor Ward and Burke is expected to finish in early summer 2027.

The weekend therefore marks a traffic-management phase, rather than completion of the whole project. This is scheduled work, not an announcement of an emergency road closure or a drinking-water outage.

For urgent water or wastewater issues, Uisce Éireann's contact service operates on 1800 278 278 around the clock. Check the current project notice and roadside instructions for changes before travelling. Times in this report are local Irish time.
